Lenovo Launches Aston Martin-Inspired ThinkStation Trio
March 17, 2023The ThinkStation PX, P7, and P5 are a new trio of the most cutting-edge desktop workstations ever created by Lenovo. They have been completely redesigned in partnership with Intel, NVIDIA, and Aston Martin offering a premium chassis with ultra-high-end graphics, memory, and processing power. They come equipped with Intel’s Sapphire Rapids CPU technology, including processors from three distinct product lines, 4th gen Intel Xeon Scalable Processors (SP), Intel Xeon W-3400 series, and Intel Xeon W-2400 series CPUs.  All provide more and faster cores to take full advantage of top-tier NVIDIA RTX professional GPUs.Â
Aston Martin Design
The new ThinkStation chassis was jointly designed by Lenovo and its client Aston Martin, a world-renowned, high-performance automaker and market leader in the ultra-luxury car manufacturing industry. They aimed to mirror Lenovo’s ubiquitous honeycomb pattern design with red accents, while incorporating Aston Martin’s unique design aesthetic. Aston Martin’s iconic DBS grand tourer sports car serves as the direct inspiration for the chassis’ 3D grill, maintaining Lenovo’s brand recognition with enhanced design ques expressing the performance potential.
Greater 3D hex ventilation openings and redesigned air baffles ensure maximum hot air exhaust and cold air intake thanks to Lenovo’s unique tri-channel cooling technology. All three of the new workstations have optional front access drive bays as well as an inventive, modular design making upgrades to the system and maintenance a breeze.Â
Lenovo ThinkStation PX
The Lenovo ThinkStation PX, the company’s high-end, flagship workstation, boasts extraordinary levels of performance thanks to support for more cores and expandability. Powering this adaptable new workstation are dual 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors with up to 60 CPU cores each, for up to 120 physical cores. 4thgen Intel Scalable Processors deliver a 53% average performance improvement over the previous generation. The Lenovo PX Workstation provides the versatility required for both desktop and data center scenarios, making it possible to switch between the two with ease.
Moreover, the ThinkStation PX supports up to 4x dual slot, 300W NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada Generation GPUs, allowing users to carry out the most complex workflows in modern workplaces such as creative finishing, scientific simulation, and CAE simulation. The new workstation offers flexibility for multi-user virtualization in hybrid workflow environments, whether in the data center or carpet clusters beneath the desktop. It has up to 2TB of DDR5 memory, and PCIe Gen 5 lanes offering ultra-fast bandwidth with twice the throughput compared to PCIe gen 4. Additionally, this workstation includes optional redundant power supplies for rack-mount enterprise reliability or an efficient single slot 1850W PSU.
Lenovo ThinkStation P7
The ThinkStation P7 comes equipped with the most recent Intel Xeon W-3400 series processors, providing up to 56 cores in a single socket for the increased power required to take on compute-intensive, multithreaded workloads. The 4U P7 is also rack-optimized for placement in a data center environment or for use as a stand-alone desktop appliance.
This workstation is perfect for content creators, architects, designers, engineers, and data scientists that want unmatched graphics, visualization, real-time rendering, CAE, and AI performance since it supports up to 1TB of DDR5 memory, plus 3x dual-slot NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada Generation GPUs and up to 52TB of storage.
Lenovo ThinkStation P5
The ThinkStation P5 has been modified to meet users’ demands for better levels of performance, IT expandability, and simplicity of management. The next-generation workstation supports the Sapphire Rapids Intel Xeon W-2400 series processors offering up to 24 cores, plus up to 2x NVIDIA RTX A6000 professional GPUs.
Extreme configurability designed to meet and exceed each individual’s end-user’s needs is delivered by fast DDR5 memory and PCIe Gen 5 bandwidth. At full capacity, it can support up to 512GB of DDR5 memory and up to 48TB of storage using various storage options. Designed with architects, designers, engineers, and creatives in mind, this workstation excels in solid modeling and compute-intensive applications like BIM, complicated 3D CAD, reality capture and GIS visualization, visual effects, and edge deployments.
From virtual and mixed-reality experiences, and virtual production to machine learning, these next-generation workstations meet the ever-increasing demands for more power, performance, and speed in a scalable and future-proofed way for this new hybrid-work world. The 3 new workstations are expected to be available starting in May 2023. To learn more, click here.
